NEW & IMPORTANT: Any citizen(s) interested in Sultan's long-term strategic planning, its future quality of life and future tax increases should attend this Wednesday's (1/25) council meeting. Here's the agenda packet (in Word, pdf). And here are some associated Acrobat/pdf files on CAO (Critical Areas Ordinance) and BAS (Best Available Science) concerning that ordinance, but are not included on this week's agenda: CAO draft regs, B&H memo re BAS, Memo on CAO draft ordinance and Information related to Comm. Transit's/WSDOT recommendations to relocate dangerous bus stop.

Related Story: Despite the major and long-term impact of reorganization and "taxing" issues being addressed at this week's council meeting, the City has not posted the agenda, the agenda packet, or copies of these proposed ordinances on their website. Nor have they posted them on their new listserv. (I'm assuming the city did widely distribute this agenda packet on Friday afternoon to everyone except me, per a voice message on my answering service left by City Clerk Laura Koenig that my email service rejected her 2:53 PM transmission. My thanks to Donna Murphy, who re-transmitted to me this packet and associated CAO pdf documents -- perhaps at Laura's request -- at 4:02 PM Friday.)

MAJOR PROPOSED CHANGES AT THIS WEEK'S MEETING:
    • All personnel reorganizations as recommended by the Prothman Report;
    • An ordinance (in Word) that the Sultan Planning Commission be abolished.
      Instead, a new "Citizens Growth Management Advisory Board" will be created, the decisions of which will not be appealable, which will be part of Sultan's planning functions, a newly-formed "Department of Economic Development."
