Sultan Resident's Personal Gravel Battle:
Now you see it....
Now you -- STILL see it!

Patch of Bryant Road that was "repaired." What is left of a large pile of gravel dumped in front of a Bryant Road homeowner's house. |
A large pile of gravel which had been unceremoniously dumped in front of the home of a resident on Bryant Road, had also been placed there without any notice, permission or even a courtesy call by either the contractor or city staff. While this is public easement, of course, a courtesy phone call would have been appropriate, as well as an estimate of how long it would be there. (Also, couldn't the contractor/city have found a less-traveled, less unsightly area in which to place it?) The gravel was needed to repair Bryant Road as part of the developer's responsibilty and that it be returned to its "pre-construction condition" following the completion of the Eagle Ridge development. Numerous phone calls to the city and the contractor, Methow Valley, yielded nothing. Time went by. Apparently weary of the sight and the mess, someone then stuck a sign in the middle of it that read, "Move this gravel before I move it for you!" More time went by. The gravel stayed. Finally, in frustration, someone changed the sign's wording to "FREE! Help Yourself" The pile is slowly going down. |

the way, virtually the entire length of Bryant Road, which was previously
in first-rate condition, has been ruined by the truck traffic due to construction.
This puny, several-feet-long patch, which is as bumpy as a camel's back,
is neither a good spot-repair job, nor by any measure of quality, a restoration
to its "pre-construction" condition.) |
