MINUTES & AUDIO: City of Sultan Hearing – 2007 Budget - December 6, 2006
(Audio, approx. 12 min., 2.2 mb)
The public hearing on the 2007 Budget was called to order in the Sultan Community Center by Mayor Tolson. Councilmembers present: Champeaux, Wiediger, Slawson, Seehuus, Flower, Blair and Boyd. There were no objections to the council participation in the hearing.
Staff Report:
Laura Koenig, Clerk/Deputy Finance Officer, presented the 2007 budget to the Council for final review. Three issues require resolution to finalize the budget document. The Council needs to determine the amount to allocate for code enforcement and animal control services, the amount of the salary increase for the Police Chief position and the staffing levels for the Garbage Department.
Public Input:
Loretta Storm: Encourage the Council to maintain the proposed salary for the Police Chief. The council needs to consider the cost for replacement of existing personnel.
Josie Fallgatter: The budget shows $10,000 allocation for the Skateboard Park, is this correct? Asked if there are other funds to complete the project...
Councilmembers:
Blair: The information on the mitigation fees did not show the amount of funds that must be spent for park purposes. The Public Safety committee met to discuss code enforcement and has recommended that $20,000 be allocated in the budget.
Laura Koenig advised that the balance of park mitigation fees is $57,000 and $17,000 needs
to be spent in 2007.
On a motion by Councilmember Seehuus, seconded by Councilmember Champeaux, the
public hearing was closed. All ayes.
