HEARING OPENING, SUMMARY OF ISSUES & BACKGROUND (AUDIO FILE A, 13:20 min., 2.3 mb):
- Mayor Pro-tem John Seehuus presides; opens hearing, reads hearing procedure/guidelines. (Present: C/M Blair, Flower, Wieidiger, Champeux and Slawson [and Seehuus]. (approx. 2-3 min.)
- Background and summary by City Administration Deborah Knight. Questions from Council (Flower re Cascade View drive crossing FD #5 property. Knight re issues raised by L. Storm re 330th intersection/signal not included in U. S. 2's RDP (Route Development Plan) which could hinder funding, DK said this question would be addressed by City sending WSDOT a future notice for the specific intersection improvement.
COUNCIL QUESTIONS (AUDIO FILE B, 4:18 min., 758 kb)
- C/M Blair question re FD #5 property and Cascade View Drive's incursion on their property; FD #5's position would hinder future development/buildout.
- C/M Slawson question to Cisar regarding specific zoning of that land. Cisar's response was it was zoned "commerical." (G.R.I.T. NOTE: There is no such zoning desgiatnion in Sultan's code; it would be either ED, Economic Development, HOD, Highway Oriented Development, or UC, Urban Center.)
PUBLIC TESTIMONY:

- FD #5 Commissioner Steve Fox reads the District's letter to the City aloud
L. Storm re possible alternative for Cascade View Drive & US2 access, both eastbound and westbound.
Dan Barmon (Owner of Barmon Lumber) - Already gave away an easement to his land for LID 97-1, does not want any further incursions on his property.
C/M Slawson question Re possibility of future roundabouts at 330th and (future) Cascade View Drive intersection; FD #5 Chief Halverson.

Our audio is from sound captured from a single microphone located near the podium which also picks up significant room noise.
