This will be an ongoing feature page relative to the political events in Sultan as they unfold between now and November, as seen by G.R.I.T. I will make an attempt to call a spade a "blasted" shovel, but will also try not to hit anyone with it.

The decision to begin this commentary feature has been borne from early election-related insults in a September 15^th posting on this website's discussion forum. It is a self-serving editorial in the guise of righteousness, authored and posted by a nameless coward, whom I have reason to believe may also be one of the candidates running for a Sultan Council seat.

It has been my policy on this website's discussion forum to refrain from commenting on submissions, since it is exists for people to feel free to express their thoughts and feelings, whatever those may be. However, I do expect that if something of a besmirching nature is stated as an undisputed fact, as was done in this case, that the author also sign their name.

The September 15^th posting was signed "Former Member" [of G.R.I.T.]. The author is a liar, and the content contained in the last two paragraphs of his posting consists entirely of lies. First, the author cannot be a former member since there are no "members" of G.R.I.T. The reason there are no members is due to Kenton Coy's appropriation of our name, which has prevented us from formally organizing as a non-profit corporation. People either agree with us, or not, as they choose. Second, the author states that my editorial, "Secure and Protect Sultan" was "nothing more than a chance to apply your personal non-growth agenda," a colossal lie. I am utterly appalled that anyone could have interpreted it in that vein. Third, the author accuses me of using the monstrous and unspeakable Attack on America "for your own personal gain." A ludicrous lie, since unlike certain for-profit individuals and factions in town, our activities have been at great cost to us, both emotionally and monetarily. Lastly, the author said that "many of the candidates that are running for council in Sultan have removed themselves from your website after your posting of this editorial." Also a lie. Only Dusty Boucher has requested that his voluntarily-submitted candidate statement be removed. That removal request came via email after he had read the editorial to which I refer.

I am confounded on one point: Why would someone who feels so passionate on the subject not have been proud to sign their name to their posting? Unless, of course, they are a coward. Or a liar. Or both.

Now that that unpleasant prologue has been dispatched, I'd like to move on to the real reason for this new feature page: Discussion of candidates, issues and events having to do with the November election of five Sultan City Councilmembers.

FIRST, I will state once, quite clearly, for the record: NO CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR SULTAN CITY COUNCIL ARE "MEMBERS" OF G.R.I.T., or, indeed, have any affiliation with this website.

Second, G.R.I.T. does NOT ENDORSE ANY SPECIFIC CANDIDATE. However, there are several candidates in town with whom I feel an affinity for three reasons: They are individuals who have proven themselves to be honorable and honest people; they are advocates of the laws of our city, county, state, country, and the larger community of human beings; they will not benefit in any financial way by running for council; and they have already made a significant contribution to the city by their actions for the greater good. While G.R.I.T. will no doubt champion certain candidate's(s') viewpoints and opinions on a regular basis, it is by nature of our mutually-shared "pro-law" beliefs rather than any personal affiliation or association. If this makes us appear prejudiced, than we plead "guilty" right now.

THIRD, I plan to counteract any mistruth, lie, flagrant or "creative" misrepresentation of facts, or misdeeds in an aggressive way. (I will begin by stating that the Criswell, Koehler and Duty Boucher campaign signs were not placed legally.)
