THE
EVENT WAS ATTENDED BY APPROX. 100 PEOPLE
PHOTOS
FROM THE DEBATE (taken by Brian McNaughton)

|
|
|
BOTH
SIDES HAD THEIR CHANCE TO SPEAK, BOTH "PRO" and "NO"

ABOVE:
ON THE "PRO" SIDE, L to R, are ProSultan board members Jeff
Kirkman, John Dick and Dr. Mark Raney)
|
|
|
AND
THE "NO!" SIDE HAD A CHANCE TO SAY THEIR PIECE
(But
the event was boycotted by Councilmembers Dusty Boucher, Bruce Champeaux
[who had used "education" throughout the process], Rob Criswell
and Jimmy Porter. Bart Dalmasso spoke for them all in a letter he submitted
to the League. Mr. Dalmasso is a Real Estate broker, a Sultan Plannning
Commissioner, a member of Sultan's Economic Development Committee, editor
of the Sultanites for the Truth newsletter/PAC and Sultan's representative
at Snohomish County's Ecnomic Development Council and the Evergreen Crescent
Initiative who is looking out for everyone's interests, apparently.)

Sam Wold, owner of the historic Sultan Saw Shop
Right: Gary Broughton, Developer and Contractor (related to two
ex-mayors of Sultan)
|
For
whatever it's worth, I'd like to offer my kudos and congratulations
to Mssrs. Wold and Broughton. They had the intestinal fortitude
to face the crowd and say what they thought, while others on the
"NO!" side boycotted this non-partisan debate forum.
To
Sultan's "Leaders": It does not speak well for you that
in a town where people have given several yers of their lives for
the right to be heard, you turn your backs to everyone, including
the voters.

SERIOUS

The League's moderator, Norma Bruns, who did an outstanding job.
(We should hire her to organize and keep council meetings on track!) |
