READ DUSTY BOUCHER'S ENDORSEMENT OF HIS (BROTHER/STEP-BROTHER) DEREK BOYD (published as a flyer insert in his brother's newspaper, The Valley Review, Vol. I, Issue 12, Oct. 3, 2003)

Items of interest that you won't find in the voter's pamphlet:
(Please note that any opinions expressed here are those of Loretta Storm and Ray Kistenmacher, based on information and documents from city files, the county assessor, witnesses and other venues.)

  • He's the adopted son of Ed "Cheeko" Boucher, owner of the Dutch Cup and a local developer.
  • He's the brother (or step-brother, no one seems sure which) of Councilman Dustin Boucher, currently serving on the council.
  • He writes an op-ed column for his step-brother Brady Boucher's newspaper, The Valley Review, a vehicle that looks increasingly like a custom-rigged dragster whose destination is the city council chambers.
  • He holds the dubious distinction of holding the record for the most missed meetings while serving on Sultan's Planning Commission -- 13 consecutive -- and was removed from office.
  • During the last council election in 2001, he was the author and publisher of libeous "newsletters" delivered to Sultan residents' doorsteps. These flyers were from an organization he dubbed the "Sultan Citizens Coalition" Read the SCC newsletters
  • He's on record as recommending the reduction of all wetland buffers to 25 feet (they now vary between 25 and 100 feet).
  • His family's track record on environmental issues is questionable, at best, notorious, at worst.
  • He's a gonzo supporter of his own and his family's property rights, yet has displayed little or no regard for the property rights of The Little Guy with a home of his own on a small piece of land.
  • He and his family own a fishing pond that was created by diverting Winter's Creek onto their property (without proper approvals).
