Specific definition not defined in the plan, but on pg. 16 there is the following comment: "Existing flood damage reduction ordinances required that new residential construction…within the 100-year floodplain be elevated to the BFE."

Community Rating System

An NFIP rating system that recognizes community efforts to reduce flood hazards and risks.

CTP

Cooperating Technical Partners

A FEMA-developed initiative to increase local involvement in, and ownership of, the flood mapping process.

LOMA

Letter of Map Amendment

In layman's terms, a "dispensation" for a property owner for a property or portion thereof, to remove it from a SFHA (Special Flood Hazard Area) based on elevation, if they can prove to FEMA that in of "base flood" periods it will remain on high enough ground to prevent damage.

NFIP

National Flood Insurance Program

Provides for the availability of flood insurance for communities willing to adopt floodplain management programs to mitigate future flood losses.

NGVD

HGAC (Haven't Got A Clue)

 This is a particular measurement or unit of measurement which is not explained in the plan, and with which we are unfamiliar.

RFLMP

Repetitive Flood Loss Mitigation Plan

A plan to recognize and identify Sultan's repetitive flood loss properties as defined by FEMA
