Summary Statement: We have received two proposals to enter into Interlocal Purchasing Agreements – one from the City of Bellevue and one from the King County Directors’ Association. The City of Bellevue’s proposal allows us to get prices from Vendors as they are solicited by Bellevue. The King County program is technically for School Districts but they stopped in the office the other day to "sell" their program. It is similar to the State’s purchasing program, with catalog, etc. There is a service fee charge per order but no membership fee.

Financial Impact: Neither Interlocal obligates us to a membership fee or other costs associated with obtaining quotes from Vendors. In staff’s opinion, there is a trade off between getting some supplies slightly cheaper somewhere other than Staples, Viking or a local vendor and staff time used to compare prices from numerous price lists, but it may pay off in some areas. We do order some items in large enough quantities to make price comparison a good idea.

Recommended Motion: Staff recommends authorizing the Mayor to sign both interlocal purchasing agreements.
