RESOLUTION NO. _______________

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GOLD BAR, WASHINGTON, TO ESTABLISH THAT IT WISHES TO PREPARE THE PRELIMINARY AGENDA FOR ALL OF ITS COUNCIL MEETINGS AND ESTABLISH A MECHANISM FOR ITEMS TO BE ADDED TO THE COUNCIL’S AGENDA.

WHERE AS, in the past the City Council has allowed the Mayor and Staff to prepare the preliminary agenda for its Council Meetings,

WHERE AS, this had the effect of insuring we had an agenda prepared for each meeting but limited the involvement of the Council in setting city policy and shortened the discussion of such policy; NOW THEREFORE,

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GOLD BAR, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1.  That starting with the meeting of January 17th, 2006 the Council will take on the responsibility of preparing the preliminary agenda for all of its Council Meetings.

Section 2.  The Council will meet periodically and via majority consensus determine what will be included on the preliminary agenda for its future meetings. During this process the Council will consider requests made in writing or otherwise by but not limited to the following: the Mayor, Staff, Citizens and Council Members. From these requests a preliminary agenda will be agreed upon and distributed by the Mayor Pro Tem or his\her designee to the Mayor and City Clerk so that they can prepare and distribute the packets in time for the Council meeting.

Section 3. As part of preparing the preliminary agenda the Council will be removing the current verbal Mayor and Staff reports and request these reports be submitted in writing and included in the Council packets starting with the January 17th, 2006 meeting.
