COUNTY'S MINERALCOMPREHENSIVE PLAN EIS (Environmental Impact Statement): This plan will have significant impact on Sultan's (& and Sky Valley's) future due to DNR's proposal to mine gravel on 600 acres just north of the city limits, called the Powerhouse Site. see our gravel pages for background info on that particular project. The project was temporarily cancelled in August because of significant efforts by activists, until such time as the county's mineral plan could be finalized. We urge EVERYONE to make comment on this EIS. One of the most important things to stress is that the county needs to address transportation issues for gravel projects,which, unbelievably they failed to address at all in the document. |

| COMMENTS ON DRAFT EIS: Although we haven't yet counted them, the county said they received written comments from 80 different people/sources. Additionally, the turn-out at the open houses is as follows: Arlington, 40; Granite Falls, 48; and Monroe 57. | ||
