MONROE POLICE DEPT - PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

On 09/07/01, at 7:18 am. Monroe Police officers were dispatched to a traffic accident involving three vehicles at 164th and Fryelands Blvd. Once on scene, officers located an accident between two passenger vehicles and a dump truck with a pony trailer. Preliminary investigation determined that vehicle #3, a dump truck with pony trailer, while turning northbound onto Fryelands Blvd, collided with two passenger vehicles that were southbound and approaching the intersection of 164 and Fryelands Blvd.

 The trailer of the dump truck, driven by one adult male, struck and came to rest on vehicle #1. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 64 year old Monroe resident did not suffer any injuries.

 The adult male driver and so1e occupant of vehicle #1 was initially trapped inside his vehicle but was successfully extracted by police and fire crews. He was transported to Valley General Hospital where he was treated and released. He was identified as a 24-year-old counselor at Monroe High School.

 Vehicle #2 was driven by a male juvenile student from Monroe High School The passenger was determined to be the sister of the driver and also to be a student at Monroe High School.
