CANCELLATION OF ANOTHER PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING:

February 1, 2005 meeting will not be held, because --- ????

An emailed message sent by Donna Murphy, January 28, 2005:

"Due to lack of Action and Discussion items, the meeting scheduled for Tuesday February 1, 2005 has been CANCELED. The next Planning Commission Meeting scheduled for February 15, 2005 may include a presentation on the Shoreline Management Program and Code Scrubs for Discussion items.

For additional information contact Planning Commission Secretary, Donna Murphy at 360.793.2231." [bold-font emphasis added by G.R.I.T.]

Huh??? With efficacy of the Design Review Board questioned at the 1/26/05 council meeting, as well as discussions needed to review and decide on the disposition and wording of a plethora of badly-needed code scrubs, we cannot imagine why another meeting has been cancelled.

To me it is beginning to look as though the city may be trying to either curtail input and actions from Josie Fallgatter and Jeff Kirkman, who certain fellow commissioners and city officials and staff now regard as "renegades" because of their November appeal to the Growth Management Hearings Board, or support Bart Dalmasso's urging that the PC is no longer required and should be disbanded.

By way of explanation, Fallgatter and Kirkman rightly appealed the City's lack of a viable Capital Facilities Plan, as well as revisions to the open space codes last November with the Hearings Board, and more recently they have filed an appeal to the Board the week of Jan. 25th related to "irregularities" in process, content and the land use analysis contained within the City's just-released 2004 Comp Plan Update.

But , hey, I'm just about as paranoid as they come, right? (Although some might better define it as "heightened perception based on historical experience.")
