Sultan Police Appreciation BBQ: Saturday, May 19, 2007, Osprey Park, 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 PM
(Revised Wed., May 23, 2007)

(Note: These photos were taken from 12:10 PM to 1:00 PM and several photos were "bad." We would, therefore, deeply appreciate any photos taken by other event participants, if they wish to share them with us. If we use them, we will certainly provider attribution for those, if the photographer wishes to be identified.)

39th Rep. Kirk Pearson and SPD Chief Walser

Above: 39th Legislative Representative Kirk Pearson (who signed the "Keep Our Police" petition), swung by to express his own appreciation for Sultan's law enforcement team.

Above: Private citizens Kerry Ourada and Gerry Gibson created, posted and paid for (with private funds) this terrific sign, posted along U. S. 2's north side, just east of the Red Apple. Organizers also created and distributed (again, with private funds) this flyer throughout Sultan to advertise this "First Annual" Sultan Police Appreciation BBQ. Primary Movers and shakers for this event were (in alphabetical order): Gerry Gibson, Traci Hoenstine and Kerry Ourada. Many other good folks -- and local businesses -- helped to make this a successful event; among them, Mary Carson Ford and Vicki McIntire. Thank you!

Citizens wanting to show their appreciation for those who place themselves in harm's way every day for all of us, organized & sponsored an appreciation BBQ for the Sultan Police Department personnel Saturday, May 19, 2007. Sultan residents and other citizens celebrated by munching hot dogs and other goodies, and participating in a drawing for gift baskets generously donated by local Sultan businesses for this event. There was also a "Keep Our Police!" Petition circulated, which collected approx. 40 signatures of registered voters. The BBQ was held in Osprey Park from 11 a.m. to 3:30 PM. begins at 11 a.m., ends at 3:30 PM). Mayoral candidate and current Sultan Councilman John Seehuus visited for awhile to show his unwaivering support for the police, as did Councilman Jim Flower (who is running to keep his council seat), and current Councilman Ron Wiediger and his wife attended.

(And for those who were unable to attend this event, or just want to express their support or thanks for the Sultan Police, we'll be happy to post letters or emails. Here's one such, from Creekside Karate.)
