- A
City Staff-Sheriff's Dept. Negotation Meeting was held early April,
2007:
The public was not advised of this meeting, much less invited to attend.
It was a "city staff working" meeting, the purpose of which
was to iron out the details of the sheriff's contract proposal to obtain
a true "apples to apples" cost comparison of the city's current
police service with the Sheriff's proposed costs before the city's
scheduled 4/26/07 public meeting. As of May 28, 2007, citizens and council
are still waiting for that A-to-A comparison....)
- Audio
of April 26, 2007 Presentation & Council Meeting (Sultan
Middle School; 200-plus residents attended). This was advertised as
-- finally -- a meeting where the true Apples-to-Apples comparison would
be presented.
- Sheriff's
full-blown presentation and slide show , council questions,
and questions from the Assembly. The Sheriff's Department was amply
represented by four upper-level public officials. Also on hand to
offer testimonials of their satisfaction with their own Sheriff's
Dept.contracts, was Mayor Jones of Darrington and Mayor Crystal
Hill of Gold Bar.
- Council
Meeting (followed presentation) Most residents did not remain
for the council meeting.
