KIRO-TV's
May 14, 2007 "Investigative" Report re allegations that:
(1) Carole Pepperill poisoned a neighbor's (Gayle M. Harvie) two 6-month-old
Tibetan Massiff puppies, or was involved in that event; and (2) a claim
by the Harvies that Carole's son stole Harvies' motorcycle; and (3) that
Pepperill illegally used Sultan's Police Dept. computers to file a falsified
complaint against the Harvies wih the Snohomish County Sheriff's department.
After reading the KIRO story, I was unsatisfied. So here's a May
17, 2007 EMAIL EXCHANGE between myself and KIRO-TV (Word).

Accusations of illegal or inappropriate use of SPD computers aside (we will wait for WSP's final findings), our own investigation on this issue hit paydirt, and puts paid to the other claims in KIRO's and The Valley Review's stories. Our "investigation" involved checking both the Snohomish County Superior Court and Evergreen District Court files for all recorded documents. That fairly easy action turned over a Large, Smelly Brown Log that revealed a veritable treasure trove of creepie-crawlies that neither KIRO-TV, nor the local Boucher paper found during their "reseach." Those documents also painted a picture of the Harvies as undesirable neighbors. Several neighbors of the Harvies complained of the following:
These problems were reported and confirmed by many letters from visitors, adjoining property owners and friends and family members, affidavits and copies of petitions for restraining orders, etc., contained in this file. These documents -- and especially Harvies' Feb., 2007 letter to Everegreen District court, tell an entirely different tale, at least insofar as Harvies' accusations against Nicholas Pepperill (Carole's son) about theft of their motorcycle, and puppy-poisoning is concerned. We have these court documents, and can make copies available upon request. (Or you can do your own research at those courts.) We may or may not post these documents before issuance of the WSP report. But we believe the Feb., 2007 Harvie letter lays to rest most of the accusations made by KIRO-TV, which were echoed in the Boucher's local Valley Review., It does, seem, however, that these documents were selectively excised from their recent "investigations." OF SIGNIFICANT INTEREST: The Feb. 2007 Harvie letter makes one wonder: (1) why Gayle Harvie would have -- apparently -- lied to KIRO about Pepperill's "involvement" re the puppies and the motorcycle, or (2) if KIRO had that information, and irresponsibly decided to omit it from their story. |

When I read the KIRO-TV story and documents, it was clear that a good deal of the truth was missing. We learned in the fall of 2000 to "Wait for the ENTIRE story," and that claims, statements and even affidavits, can be false and misleading. We had some pretty good teachers for feeling this way (see below), and we ask you to withhold your final opinion until the WSP report is issued. The reasons why we try to withhold judgment: Through a few experiences at the hands of Kenton Coy (former local Sultan newspaper publisher), certain members of the then-Sultan council and several lifelong Sultan residents, we have learned to wait for the WHOLE story before passing judgment. Below is the really, really short version, if you want to read it. (The long version can be found here, if you're interested. But I warn you, it's long.....) Thus, we urge you to wait, and draw conclusions only after the the final WSP report is released. Short Version: When Ray, my husband, and I began peeking under the City's skirs in April, 2000, and publishing public documents on our website that July, the reaction was similiar to hitting a wasps' nest. Mr. Coy lead the effort to try and harass us into submission. One of his first actions was to slander us in two back-to-back council meetings, one attack of which included the incredible announcement that WE had stolen the G.R.I.T. name from a citizen group that HE and others had formed almost seven months previously. Included in the documents provided during the course of our libel law suit against him were signed affidavits from long-time Sultan residents and several city officials, swearing under pain of perjury that Mr. Coy had indeed formed G.R.I.T. seven months before we had, an astonishing claim.. The point is this: Collect all the facts and documentation before drawing erroneous conclusions. |
