G.R.I.T. UPDATE of Monday, Jan. 3, 2006 (re U. S. 2 fatalities)

An accident yesterday morning (Monday, Jan. 2nd) on U. S. 2 at the Fern Bluff intersection approx. one mile west of Sultan claimed two more lives.  Here's the link to the Herald' story:  http://www.heraldnet.com/stories/06/01/03/100loc_a1wreck001.cfm

Roy Griffin from Gold Bar and Richard Montgomery of Monroe were the 3rd and 4th fatalities on U. S. 2 within a 17-day period. A woman was killed last week in head-on collision on U. S. 2 between Snohomish and Monroe, and a generally-unreported fatality occurred Dec. 16th in Sultan when a woman was killed crossing the highway, trying to access a Community Transit bus stop.

Another possible tragedy was occurred December 29th. U. S. 2 was closed for approx. 90 minutes when a woman driving under the influence "...reportedly crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a Honda carrying two people from Bothell. One suffered a broken leg and broken ankle, and the other suffered minor injuries."   The woman was arrested.

Please drive like your life depends upon it.  It does.  Regards and wishes for a safe and prosperous 2006.
