COUNCIL QUICKIES (from April 2, 2003 Council Meeting
G.R.I.T. Home
  • Dr. Raney accuses Rowe of slander (see transcription, separate webpage)
  • ROWE (and the rest of the Dutch Cup Bunch) proposed placing Planner Rick Cisar in dual role as planner and city administrator. On advice by Graafstra and discussions in council, it was decided the position needs to be advertised, at least, and that Mr. Cisar's position as planner needs to be vacated first. (It's funny, isn't it, how Rowe, Porter and Criswell came to council fully informed on this not-so-bright idea, and even Brady Boucher was informed well enough in advance to have already read the Sultan municipal codes related to city administrator and city planner.) This may be a good time for Rick Cisar to make public his previous education and experience that would qualify him for such a position. Mayor Rowe, et al. displayed great urgency in having Rick fill this position, and action will be pushed by them to have all legal paperwork in order so it can be placed on the next council meeting.
  • Fence code and building height restriction codes go back to the drawing board. Again. More grist for the "Let's do it right the first time" mill, and indication that some folks just like to keep doing the same job over and over again.
  • PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS (workshops scheduled for April 16th and 23rd)
  • NELSON FORMAT PLAT - Final Acceptance granted
  • TOBACCO-FREE PARKS DISCUSSED and a resolution will be drafted
  • During closing comments, Cheeko Boucher once again engages council and city attorney in extended Q&A, rebuffs Brennen Deveraux's input, and resurrects the question of whether or not public and councilmember comments are agenda items which can be commented upon (during the last meeting council agreed they were not officially part of the agenda).
  • There will be a Friends of the Library used book sale this coming weekend.
  • COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS and "OTHER" ISSUES:
Raney acuses Rowe of slander, Rowe announces that PD J. C. Becker is back from his Middle East military duty safe and sound, Jeff Everett felt the council did a disservice to Cliff Morris in not allowing him to present his proposal to the council during the last council meeting (the subject was summarily moved to an executive session by city attorney Bruce Keithly), Dusty Boucher was excused, and -- believe it or not! -- there were NO opening public comments.
